It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Werner Koby, who left this world on June 20, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on August 25, 1950, in Hirschau, Germany, Werner's journey through life was marked by his love for family and zest for life.

Werner was the beloved son of Nicholas and Anna Stadler Koby, who instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion. Born in Hirschau he later moved to New York, where he graduated from Ramapo High School in 1970. Though he briefly pursued studies in architecture, his true calling lay in the skilled trades.

Werner's professional life was defined by his dedication to the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 373, where he worked as a pipe fitter and welder for many years. Later serving as both a Business Agent and Business Manager. His commitment to his work and his colleagues was evident in his membership in the United Association of Journeymen & Apprentices of Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States. Werner's influence extended beyond his professional life as he was admired and respected by many who had the privilege of working alongside him.

On October 5, 2013, Werner married Clare Parra, in Mountainville, N.Y. Their marriage was built on a foundation of laughter and unwavering support. Together, they made their home in Myrtle Beach, SC, where they created a life filled with joy and shared passions.

Werner was a man of diverse interests; his love for the outdoors was evident in his avid golfing, boating adventures, and his talent for gardening. He found solace and expression in taxidermy, cooking, and motorized boat building. A gifted artist, Werner took great pride in creating beautiful hand-painted works of art, a testament to his creativity and the joy he found in sharing his talent with others. His quick wit, warm smile and generous spirit brought joy to those around him, and his kindness touched countless lives. Werner had an ability to make everyone feel welcome. He will be remembered for his loving nature and the joy he brought to those around him.

Werner is survived by his devoted wife, Clare of 13 years, his beloved daughter, Jennifer Koby, and his siblings: Lora Reimann (Michael), Tamara Westphal (Keith), and brother Herman Koby (Ethel). He leaves behind four grandchildren Raymond, Julianna, Elias and Aimee. Nephew Joseph, niece Anna Nicole and several others. Though predeceased by his beloved son, Eric Koby, Werner's legacy continues through the love and memories shared by his family.

Werner's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sean Pennetti, Neuro-Oncologist, and the dedicated staff at MUSC Health, Medical University of South Carolina, for their compassionate care during his final days.
