Tim Limbert, 46, died unexpectedly and peacefully on Thursday, May 19, 2022. Tim led a life of service to his country, his community, his church, his teammates, and most importantly, his family. Tim was an avid lover of life: runner, surfer, snowboarder, gardener, bread baker, wood worker, cook, and most recently poet.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 23, 1975. Tim grew up in the suburbs with his brother Matt and his parents, Linda (kindergarten teacher) and the late Dale (librarian) Limbert. He was a 1994 graduate of Brush High School, and a 1998 Distinguished graduate of the Naval Academy where he finished 6th in his class and ran on the cross-country team that qualified for the NCAA National Championships and track team. Over his 4 years at the academy, Tim went from walk-on to receiving the highest athletic award given to a varsity athlete. His name is inscribed within Lejunne Hall as the 1998 recipient of the Admiral James Calvert Award for "leadership, consistent effort, loyalty and dedication to the sport and who has taken their abilities beyond the expectations of the coach, peers and themselves.' Following graduation, he was commissioned as an officer in the United State Navy and served seven years with four overseas deployments in service to his country as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officer (EOD). He was in charge of small teams of Navy sailors that provided security for carrier battle groups, and supervised teams of explosives experts who were charged with safely detonating improvised explosive devices during the height of the war in Iraq. His sailors saved lives and kept others safe. During this time he fell in love with and married Holly Braden and soon became a father in 2004 to his son, Carter. Tim graduated from University of Michigan Ross School of Business with Master's degrees in Business Administration and Manufacturing Engineering. His young family moved to Charleston in 2007 and he put his military experience in EOD, leadership, engineering, and creative skills to work at Force Protection making mine- resistant vehicles for our troops and became a father again to a wonderful daughter, Whitney. After several years, Tim moved into agile software development leading teams of developers at Spark and eventually Booz-Allen Hamilton. In 2019, Tim found his most rewarding job to date, as the Head Coach for the Academic Magnet High School Boy's Cross Country team. He led the teams to the South Carolina State Meet for the last three years.

Talented is an understatement when it came to Tim, but he never took himself too seriously. Humble and genuine, he made all of those around him better. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a tenacious problem solver, whether it was planning a cross-country workout, baking bread, getting the most out of South Carolina's small waves, or becoming a master gardener. That is perhaps why he had so many close friends from years of running and taking on and mastering new interests.

He loved, and was loved by his wife, Holly (nee Braden); son, Carter (18); daughter, Whitney (14); parents, Dale (deceased) and Linda; brother, Matt (Wendy); sister-in-law, Nicole (Zach) Lewis; two nephews (Wesley and Elliot Lewis), In-Laws (Carol and Jay Braden), countless friends, and extended family. A Celebration of Life and Thanksgiving for Tim will be held May 24 at 2:00 pm at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, make a donation to a charity of your choice.
