Dr. Thomas Lee Baumann, age 75, passed away on July 1, 2026. Born in 1950 in Springfield, Illinois, Dr. Baumann obtained his BA degree from Vanderbilt University and his medical degree as a member of the charter class of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He received his medical board certifications in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Medical Management.

Most recently, he became a celebrated author writing books on quantum physics and spirituality. He wrote 11 books, including his popular Quantum Spirituality Lay Manual for Hospice Patients and Matter to Mind to Consciousness. His first book, God at the Speed of Light, helped to inspire the TV series Joan of Arcadia (CBS, 2003-2005). Dr. Baumann was also known for his numerous appearances on national radio and TV. All proceeds from his books go toward his 23 endowed God at the Speed of Light scholarships. Dr. Baumann also served on the Leadership boards of Auburn University, the University of Alabama, UAB, and Southern Illinois school of medicine.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Brenda Baumann MD. Son Morgan Baumann. Grandsons Bentley and Cobi Baumann. Brother Tadd Baumann, and daughter in law Cheryl Baumann
