Obituary

Susan Amanda Strobel passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, adventure, and unwavering love for family and friends. Born on June 30, 1965, in Charleston, South Carolina, to George and Peggy Strobel, Susan lived life with remarkable energy and enthusiasm. She was always ready for her next adventure, always on the move, and never missed an opportunity to connect with others. To know Susan was to know warmth, kindness, laughter, and a spirit that made everyone feel like family.

Susan proudly served both her community and her country throughout her life. She retired from Public Safety with Medical University of South Carolina having previously dedicated 25 years of service to the Charleston City Police Department, continuing a proud family tradition as a fourth-generation police officer. She also served honorably in the United States Air Force Reserves for 32 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. During her military career, she was deployed four times and exemplified courage, commitment, and selfless service as a loadmaster for the huge cargo planes based in Charleston. Whether through her work, military service, church community, or volunteer efforts, Susan touched countless lives and truly never met a stranger.

Above all, Susan cherished her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Morgan Strobel; her beloved grandsons, David and John; her sisters, Debbie Jernigan and family, Lisa Query and family, Georgann "Gigi" LeGette and family; and her twin sister, Sandy Henderson and family. She also leaves behind her longtime beloved companion, Ken Tuttle and family, along with many dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by her love and friendship.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and a funeral service celebrating Susan's life will take place Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Both will be at Advent Evangelical Lutheran Church located at 1601 Eagle Landing Blvd, Hanahan, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pet Helpers, where Susan generously volunteered and shared her deep love for animals.

Susan's adventurous spirit, generous heart, and steadfast devotion to others will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
