Steven Scott "Beau" Bruce, 72, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and Gainesville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026.

Beau was born on September 12, 1953, in DeKalb County, Georgia, to Alton K. Bruce and Jeanine S. Bruce. He graduated from Avondale High School in Avondale Estates in 1971 and went on to Georgia Tech on a football scholarship, where he was a letterman and starting defensive end on the 1972 Jackets football team. His last collegiate play was the highlight of the 1972 Liberty Bowl and secured the win for Georgia Tech. He earned his B.S. in Industrial Management in 1976. He remained a devoted Yellow Jacket for the rest of his life — for Beau, it was always "all things Georgia Tech."

His career began in heavy industry, working on oil refineries and power plants from California to Nova Scotia, and later turned to real estate development in Georgia. Over the years, his work and life took him to Atlanta, Satellite Beach, St. Louis, Americus, Marietta, Hilton Head Island, and Gainesville.

On November 28, 1980, Beau married Angie, beginning a marriage of 46 years. Together they made it a point to find something to belly-laugh about every single day — usually at something one of them had just said or done — and that shared laughter carried them through a lifetime together. Angie often said it was "the peace of God and the non-judgmentalism that emanated from him" that first drew her to Beau. He was a rock: solid in his beliefs and convictions, a source of stability through every season — and, by his own family's loving admission, stubborn as a mule.

In the fall of 2019, God brought Beau and Angie to the Anglican Church (ACNA), a chapter they saw as the deepening of their Christian formation. They began at Resurrection Anglican Church in Woodstock and, after their move to Hilton Head, joined St. Luke's Anglican Church. Beau's deepest passion was the Tres Dias community, where he held many leadership roles and devoted himself to helping new communities take root around the world. He was not slowing down — his latest work helped launch South Atlanta Tres Dias, and he already had his eye on the next one in Portugal.

Beau never sat still for long. He loved riding bikes on Hilton Head, tackling projects, and working on the house, always looking for the next thing to do rather than rest. But when he finally did rest, there was no moving him. He was fond of saying, "I want all I'm supposed to get!"

Beau is survived by his beloved wife, Angie Bruce; his sons, Daniel Bruce and his wife Hayley of Newport Beach, California, and Nathan Bruce of Decatur, Georgia; and his cherished granddaughter, Evelyn Bruce, daughter of Nathan. He is also survived by his siblings, Mike Bruce and his wife Brenda, Jeanine Bruce Channell and her husband Larry, and Joan Bruce Burkholder and her husband Jim; along with many loved ones including Chris and Katie Bruce, Brooke and Will Dunn, Kim and Amos Downs, Bruce and Abbe Burkholder, Ken and McLaine Burkholder, Laura and Jon Bill, Ben and Allison Channell, Matt and Katie Channell, Michael and Emilee Channell, Blair Saliba, Brad and Ashley Saliba, and Angie's father, Mike Saliba. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton K. and Jeanine S. Bruce.

Those who knew Beau remember him vividly. "I can't imagine the joy and wonder Beau is experiencing now," said Bill Wright. "He was a man of steel and velvet." His sister Joan remembered his contagious smile and his love for people and the Lord, adding, "So proud to call him my big brother!"

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 13th, at 11 AM, at the Mount Paran North Church. The Address is 1700 Allgood Rd, NE, Marietta, GA 30062. There will be a casual lunch for everyone interested in visiting with the friends and family afterwards.
