Steven Charles Barngrover, age 65, passed away on July 19, 2026, in Charleston, South Carolina, after a courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

Steven was born on December 19, 1960, in Inglewood, California. Throughout his life, he worked as a plumber and in construction, taking great pride in building, fixing, and creating with his hands. His craftsmanship and strong work ethic left a lasting mark on the many homes and projects he touched.

Above all, Steven will be remembered for the impact he had on the people around him. He had an infectious laugh, a warm heart, and a personality that drew people in. He found joy in life's simple moments—whether it was running to the grocery store, striking up conversations with people he met along the way, or simply enjoying the day. A true social butterfly, he never met a stranger and had a gift for making others feel welcome. Whether sharing stories, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying the company of friends and family, Steven made lasting connections everywhere he went.

He had a deep love for the ocean and found joy in surfing and spending time near the water. He also loved tinkering, making furniture, and creating something that would last. Not one to be easily deterred, he never encountered an object he couldn't fix or a neighbor he wouldn't help.

Steven is survived by his children, Taryn Barngrover, Katin Barngrover, and Shane Barngrover; his beloved grandchild, Cayde Barngrover; and his separated spouse, Tiffany Barngrover.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Hanson; his father, Charles Barngrover; and his stepfather, Lloyd Hanson.

Steven's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His laughter, kindness, and generous spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Steven chose cremation, and a memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. The family appreciates the love, prayers, and support shown during this difficult time.
