Obituary

S. Regina Riley, fondly known as "Cookie" to her family and friends growing up and later on known as "Regina", passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024, at the age of 79. She was born on December 25, 1944, in Roanoke, Virginia, to Harry Balduzzi and Edith Mae Hartman. In 1967, she married Francis Riley, with whom she shared many beautiful years.

Growing up in the small town of Abington, Virginia, Regina's warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished friend. Regina's legacy lives on through her surviving children: Judi (Stan) Shroyer, Thomas (Deborah) Riley, Barbara (Mike) Foley, Mary (Kirk) Kolaitis, Cathy (Jason) Rasmussen, and John Riley. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren as well as great-grandchildren. Each one carries a piece of her spirit, embodying her kindness and warmth.

Throughout her life, Regina found joy in the simple pleasures. A good book, a cup of tea, playing BINGO with friends, and watching UCONN women's basketball. She had a passion for puzzles that challenged her mind and delighted in the thrill of the slots at the casino. Her eyes would light up with excitement as she scratched away at lottery tickets, always hopeful for a stroke of luck.

Regina's journey took her to various corners of the eastern United States, but for the last two decades, she found solace and tranquility in the sunshine state of Florida. It was there, amidst the palm trees and gentle ocean breeze, that she embraced the serenity of her golden years.
She was a fixture in her community, enjoying walks, always helping people, and advocating for the Lake Marion community that she loved. Regina planned the pot luck dinners, happy hours and parties at the clubhouse. She would host BINGO nights and decorated for all the holidays. Regina will be deeply missed by her wonderful community of friends.

Regina's presence touched the lives of many, leaving behind fond memories and lessons of love. She cherished her friends near and far and was able to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in her final days. Though she may have departed from this world, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.

As we bid farewell to Regina, let us find solace in knowing that she is now at peace, surrounded by eternal love and serenity.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
