Shirley Parker Ransom, 88, of Camden, SC, passed away on June 19, 2024.

A private funeral service will be held in Mt Pleasant, SC for immediate family only. Burial will also be private and held at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church in Camden, SC.

Shirley was born in Kershaw, SC on October 16, 1935, to Mattie and Zachary Parker.

Shirley worked as Stenographer for DuPont for several years before being married to Bernard Ransom. She later served as the Director of Historical Camden for many years until retirement. She enjoyed cooking, baking and hosting many parties at her home for friends and neighbors. She was also actively involved with Meals on Wheels, St. Timothy's Lutheran church where she originated the weekly "lunch bunch" group and the DAR.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Bernard Ransom, her parents Mattie and Zachary Parker, and siblings Harvey Parker, T.J. Parker, Lucille Parker Younger, Ruth Parker Miller, Robert "Bob" Parker, Lula Parker Traylor, Dorothy "Dot" Parker and Susie Parker Eades.
Shirley is survived by her children, Britton "Britt" Parker Ransom and Suzanne "Suzy" Ransom Howard, and four grandchildren, Alexandra (Alex) Britton Howard, John "Parker" Howard, Noah Elias Ransom and Tarah (Matthew) Hancock. She is also survived by two great granddaughters Everleigh Rose Hancock and Lilac "Lila" Mae Hancock.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Timothy's Lutheran Church of Camden, SC.
