Ronald "Papa" Dane Tunstill, 77, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on August 19, 2025. Born in Lexington, Kentucky, on August 30, 1947, to the late Ewell Hummel and Gloria Tunstill, Ron lived a life defined by service, devotion, and love.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army from September 25, 1967, to September 17, 1970. Following his military service, Ron began a civilian career at the Blue Grass Army Depot in Lexington, Kentucky, before transferring to Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina, with the Finance and Accounting Service Department. He dedicated 32 years of faithful service before retiring, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, and commitment.

On February 10, 1968, Ron married the love of his life, Donna, and together they shared 57 years of unwavering commitment. Their marriage was a true love story — strengthened through every challenge, full of laughter and joy, and unshaken even by life's hardest battles.

In his mid-60s, Ron discovered disc golf, a passion that quickly grew into a defining part of his later years. He became one of the top players in his age group in South Carolina and a beloved presence in Charleston's disc golf community. Admired as an elder statesman of the sport, he forged deep friendships, mentored others, and brought humor and warmth to every round. Among his many disc golf friends, he especially treasured the bonds he built with Fred, Bart, and Jimmy.

Ron will be remembered as hardworking and particular, yet also compassionate, neighborly, and endlessly approachable — he never met a stranger. With a quick wit and a love for laughter, he filled lives with joy while offering steady wisdom and guidance. To his son and grandson, he was not only a role model but also a source of invaluable lessons that will live on in their lives.

Though Ron made many friends, he and Donna especially cherished their decades-long bonds with Pete and Mary Testerman and Bob and Terry Arneson. Together they shared life's journey — raising families, traveling, riding motorcycles, and building memories that became family treasures.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna; his son, Jeremy Stuart Tunstill; his grandson, Brody Robinson Tunstill; and his brothers, Denny Tunstill, Steve Tunstill, and Norman Bailey.

More than anything, Ron's heart belonged to Donna. She was his constant companion, his source of joy, and the love of his life. He adored her deeply and without reservation, supporting her through every season of their 57 years together. Their marriage was built on laughter, faith, and unshakable devotion — a bond that only grew stronger with time. Even in life's hardest storms, their love was steady and sure, a partnership that inspired everyone who knew them. Though Ron's earthly journey has ended, the love he shared with Donna will remain unbroken — an eternal bond that not even death can diminish.
