Robert Earl Oeltjen (Bob/Pops)

October 25, 1945 – September 27, 2026

Robert Earl Oeltjen, affectionately known as Bob or Pops, 80, of Ladson, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026.

Bob was born on October 25, 1945, in Dalhart, Texas, to Earl and Marie Chandler. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from June 1963 to October 1966, working as an electrician. 

Following his honorable discharge, Bob continued his career as an electrician. His work took him to several states throughout the years before he eventually settled in Colorado. In 2009, Bob made South Carolina his home, where he continued building memories with his family and loved ones.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Marie Chandler.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Oeltjen; daughter, Teresa Downey; stepson, Erin Franks; grandchildren, Brittany, Catherine, Bobby, and Lili; three great-grandsons; and many other family members and friends who will remember and miss him dearly.

To those who knew him as Bob, he was a friend and a familiar face. To his family, he was Dad or Grandpa or Pops—names filled with love, memories, and moments that will forever remain in their hearts.

His memory will live on through the family and friends who loved him and the generations who carry his legacy forward.
