Robert Brandon Johnson, 48, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2024.

Brandon was born in Paris, TX on June 17, 1975, the son of Robert Carlton Johnson and Lisa Angela Gifford Johnson. Brandon grew up in the small town Deport, TX with most of his immediate family. He enjoyed running barefoot with his friends and they could often be found with strings tied with bacon dangling into the creek close by fishing for crawdads. As he grew older, he loved riding on the truck with his dad to deliver mile. He would also sneak into the truck in the afternoons and pass out little cartons of milk to all his friends. Brandon attended Deport Elementary and Junior High. He was a 1993 graduate of Prairiland High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He was also a member of the FFA where he carried on the family tradition of showing market broilers in Houston and locally with the help of his "GaGa" Phyllis. Brandon was always smiling and the life of the party.

Brandon began working in the restaurant industry soon after graduating, and eventually found himself behind the bar where serving drinks and making friends came natural to him. In 2004, the opportunity to move to St. Thomas, USVI landed Brandon right in the middle of a bartender's dream. He served drinks on that beach to tourists, and the locals who embraced him to become lifelong friends, for over 13 years. In October of 2017, Brandon moved to Charleston/Mount Pleasant, South Carolina where he continued to work in the restaurant industry. He made numerous lifelong friends there that had become family to him. Brandon had no shortage of friends and family who loved him and his loving and carefree spirit. He left us with many funny stories and memories that will always live on in our hearts. Even though there were thousands of miles separating him from home, he continued to let his friends and family in Texas know how much he loved them, and we let him know just how much he was missed.

Brandon was preceded in death by his father, Robert Carlton Johnson of Paris; his grandparents, Bob and Mary Lee Johnson of Deport; his grandparents, Kenneth and Phyllis Gifford of Deport; his stepfather, Tommy King of Bogata; a special cousin, Jon Pasquill of Deport; and a dear friend to his heart, Austin Mather of St. Thomas, USVI.

Brandon leaves behind many who loved him: his son, Gavin Johnson of St. Thomas, USVI; his mother, Lisa Gifford Johnson King of Bogata; his brother, Allen (and wife Rebecca) of Paris; his brother, Larry Johnson of Bogata; his aunts, Darlene Johnson Parker of Paris, Cindy Johnson Shirley (and husband George) of Blossom, Cheryl Johnson Bailey of Paris, and Tara Gifford Brown (and husband David) of Paris; his uncle, Kenny Gifford (and wife Jeannie) of Broken Bow, OK; his nieces, Jerrika Johnson of Bogata, and Hannah and Ava Johnson of Paris; his nephews, Ian Johnson of Paris and Grayson Johnson of Sulphur Springs; and other family and many friends.

A memorial will be held for Brandon in Paris, TX in the near future. Announcements will be made via Facebook on Allen Johnson's page. There is also a Gofundme account on that same page where donations can be made for the friends who have reached out wanting to contribute.
