Rebecca Sue Strawman (Becky), 68, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away on January 28, 2024.

A private memorial service will be held at a future time.

Becky was born in Merced, California, on March 17, 1955, to Paul and Doris Gunter.

Becky worked as a licensed practical nurse for over 30 years; she also worked as a paramedic. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren. Becky adored cats and had many beloved four-legged companions throughout her life. She was also actively involved in the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, where she served as Mother Advisor of Arc-en-Ciel Assembly #42 in Harleyville, South Carolina, for several years, and was honored with the Grand Cross of Color.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Donald Paul Ward; and her husband, William Strawman.

Becky is survived by her son, Stephen Ward (Abigail) of Summerville, South Carolina; her daughter, Aubrey Daniels of York, South Carolina; three grandchildren on whom she doted; sisters, Linda Overstreet of Conway, South Carolina and Paula Wheeldon (Ronnie) of Summerville, South Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Edna D. MacLaurin Scholarship Fund, PO Box 2153, Hartsville SC 29551.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Sandpiper Post-Acute and Heartland Hospice for their care of Becky during the last few weeks of her life.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Charleston Cremation Center.
