Obituary

Peter Kendrick, affectionately known as Pete, a beacon of kindness and love, passed away on November 24, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and joyful service. Born in 1953 to missionary parents Ben and Nina Kendrick, Pete's early years in Chad, Africa instilled in him a deep sense of purpose and a love for storytelling. His tales from Africa were not just stories; they were reflections of the impactful work his family did, a source of immense pride for Pete.

Pete's journey brought him back to Cleveland, Ohio, where he worked as a residential painter. His gentle soul shone through in his daily interactions; he was always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. His faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of his life, inspiring him to write beautiful poetry that celebrated the glory of God. Pete's spiritual insights were shared through his years of teaching Sunday school, where he loved discussing God's light in the world.

An animal lover at heart, Pete found joy and companionship in his beloved pets, his Toy Fox Terrier Maxwell, and Goldendoodle, Bella. His lap was a favored spot for these cherished companions, symbolizing the warmth and love he extended to all creatures. Pete's life took a beautiful turn when he married Debbie Kendrick. Their 14-year marriage was filled with adventures, from vacationing on beautiful beaches, prayer walks, and helping others. Pete was supportive of Debbie's adventurous spirit and even biked alongside her while she trained for marathons. They enjoyed the warm weather and ocean in Mt. Pleasant, SC, making cherished memories together.

As a grandfather, Pete was adored by his granddaughters Makena, Grace, and Charlotte, and anticipated the arrival of another grandchild. His calming presence and loving nature earned him the affectionate title "Grampy "Papa" Pete." His passion for the Cleveland Indians brought joy, especially sharing the experience of the World Series with his son, Kris. Pete's bond with his father, Ben, was profound, shaping his faith and guiding his life's journey. He had a special bond with his mother, ensuring she felt his love on their daily phone calls until her passing.

He leaves behind a loving family: his wife Debbie; son Kris (Ashley); brother Paul Kendrick; sister Pam (Jeff) Cook; stepchildren Collins (Karen), Chase (Brooke), and McKenzie (Adam); and his adored granddaughters. Each of them, along with his friends, will miss Pete more than words can express.

Pete Kendrick's life was a testament to the power of kindness, faith, and love. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, a reminder of the light and love he brought into the world. Rest in peace, dear Pete. You were loved immensely and will be missed beyond measure.

Memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 30th at 11am, at Lifepark Church West building (park in back parking lot).
