Penelope Grace
Voigt
Jan 22, 1958 — Apr 2, 2026
Penelope (Penny) Grace Voigt, 68, passed on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC following complications of liver disease.
Penny was born on January 22, 1958 to Doreen Fairhurst Crouch and Samuel Edward Crouch. She grew up in and around Glen Burnie and Crownsville, Maryland. She attended Arundel High
School, where she was active in several social clubs and served as manager for the
Cross-Country track team. She excelled at science and graduated early in 1976. While at school she met her soulmate and love, William Randolph (Randy) Voigt. The two were married on October 14, 1978 and were inseparable for 50 years.
Penny got her degree as a Respiratory Therapist from the Commonwealth of Virginia and worked in the Emergency rooms, ICU and NICU units at several hospitals in MD, PA, GA and VA. She had such a passion for healthcare and hospitality - she loved her time working with patients.
Penny and Randy raised two beautiful children, William Robert (Rob) Voigt and Jessica (Jess) Lynn Voigt while moving several times with Randy's career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. They retired in October 2018 and moved from Chesapeake, VA to Bluffton, SC.
Penny enjoyed walking on the beach, collecting seashells and feeling the warm ocean water. Penny enjoyed volunteering in her community's decorating committee and was well known amongst her neighbors for her annual Christmas Rum cake. Penny was a proud wife and mother, a natural caretaker to all who knew her. She was always busy with decorating and would never miss an opportunity to spend time gardening. Throughout her kid's childhood, she was a dedicated "soccer mom" following both of her children's passions on and off the field. Where there was sunshine, Penny was always soaking it in.
Penny is survived by her devoted husband, Randy; their son, Rob and girlfriend Melissa Baka of
Virginia Beach, VA; daughter Jess and her fiancé Ryan Armstrong of Denver, CO; her brother, Samuel Edward Crouch Jr. and his wife, Joyce Callie (Crouch) and their son, Samuel "Sammy" Crouch of Linthicum, MD.
A memorial service will be held on June 6th , at St. George's Episcopal Church; 9110 Dorchester
Road, Summerville, SC 29485. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. George's Episcopal Church, MUSC, the American Liver Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research 'Hospital, or Sea Otter Foundation Trust.
