Pamela Young
Ash
Sep 20, 1944 — Dec 31, 2024
Pamela Young Ash, born September 20, 1944, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, at the age of 80, due to heart failure. A longtime resident of Ellicott City, Maryland, Pamela spent her last years in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
Known lovingly as Grammy, Pam, Pammy and Pamela, she is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Bruce Ash, and their three children: Stephen Lucas Ash of the Outer Banks, North Carolina; Kimberly Ash Kolesha of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; and Amy Bennett Ash of Longmont, Colorado along with their spouses, Jennifer Bowen Ash, Kurt Kolesha, and Jaimi Norden who together gave her nine grandchildren whom she adored - Noah, Megan, Caroline, Luke, Beck, Chloe, Logan, Jett, and Bennett. Pamela is predeceased by her mother, Theodocia Lucas Young and father, George Young.
Grammy loved her Catholic faith, gardening, chocolate, flowers, and animals including cats, dogs, birds, bunnies and squirrels. She enjoyed natural surroundings always opting for a home surrounded by trees and her gardens.
As one friend described, Pamela was, "so ladylike, but strong and so loving and kind". Positive, uplifting and always up for a good laugh, she was a person whom once you met you wanted her as a friend for life. She shared that love, not only with friends and family, but as a volunteer for hospice, where she often sang her favorite hymns to the actively dyeing, to lift them up as they passed.
A Catholic mass celebrating her life will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Ellicott City, Maryland, on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 11 am. A reception will follow. Pamela's warmth, wisdom, and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
