Orapin A Schwake, age 72, passed away peacefully on July 30 in Charleston, SC. She spent her life serving others with an open heart and a generous spirit, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories.

Born on March 19 in Thailand, she was the daughter of Chaleo and Chamoy Chua-ngeunduan. She grew up to be a woman of boundless energy and compassion, whose greatest joy was found in the company of those she loved.

A natural caregiver, she truly lived to serve others. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she expressed her love through cooking beautiful meals for family and friends. She spent time in her garden tending to her herbs and vegetables and sharing that vibrant passion with everyone around her. She was also an outdoor enthusiast who loved the peace of camping, the quiet patience of fishing, and the simple joy of going for a run. Above all, she treasured her time spent laughing with her girls and proudly sharing pictures and stories of her beloved grandchildren with others.

Her family was her world. As a mother, she was a constant source of unconditional love and guidance. As a grandmother, her face would light up at every opportunity to celebrate her grandchildren's achievements and milestones.

She is survived by David Schwake, her husband of 49 years; her children, Diane (Jonathan) Rivers and Kristie Wiggins; and her grandchildren, Mac McManus, Gage Rivers, Tucker "Sam" McManus, and Kendall Rivers. She also has 3 sisters and a brother still residing in Thailand, along with numerous nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes, she is being cremated. A celebration of her life and service will be held in Thailand at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local animal shelter of your choice, supporting a cause that reflects her lifelong love of animals and in the spirit of serving others.
