Moritz Ronald (Ron) McMahan, 79, of Johns Island, South Carolina, husband of Dixie Flathmann McMahan, died peacefully at home on Friday, March 20, 2026, after a long illness. His funeral service will be held Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 405 King Street, Charleston, South Carolina. The family will receive friends in the Parish Hall from 11:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. The committal will be private.

Ron was born on May 12, 1946, in Sumter, South Carolina, and was the son of the late Moritz Alexander McMahan and the late Mary Frances Burriss. He grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, where he graduated from Wade Hampton High School and Greenville Technical College.

All who knew him know that his loves were his family and his classic cars. His best working years were spent as the owner and operator of Bayfront Shell and McMahan's Amoco on James Island.

In addition to his wife, Dixie, of 56 years, he is survived by his daughter, Lori McMahan Cowart (Robbie), and son, Moritz Ronald "Ronnie" McMahan, Jr. (Beth), and his beloved grandchildren, Carson Grace Davis, Jackson McCants Cowart and Gavin Alexander McMahan, as well as several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Mary Patricia McMahan Miller.

The family would like to thank Lutheran Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion given over the last 17 months, especially Diana and Rosa.
