Michael Lyn Spruill, 75, passed away unexpectedly after a short battle with lymphoma on February 21, 2025. Mike was born in Houston, Texas, on September 22, 1949. He graduated from Galena Park HS where he excelled in football, baseball and academics. He won a scholarship to play football at Rice University and graduated with a degree in business.
Mike was recruited to work for IBM, where he flourished for 36 years, retiring as a sales executive. He traveled the world with IBM, including 3 years living in Japan. He met his wife, Ricki Silveria when on assignment in NYC. They were married for 41 years and have resided in Dunes West for the past 25 years.
Mike was a member of the Saugatuck Yacht Club in Westport, CT, Past President of the Charleston Kennel Club, and a member of the Dunes West Country Club. Mike also belonged to the Harbour Club where he served on the food and beverage committee. He was a Founding Member of the Robert Burns Society of Charleston to support and promote the Scottish arts and heritage in Charleston. Mike wore the McFarlane tartan, representing the Clan of his Scottish ancestry. Mike and his wife Ricki were owners and breeders of numerous award-winning Siberian Huskies.
He is survived by his wife Ricki Silveria, his son Ryan (Tanya) Spruill, and daughter Jill Spruill and son-in-law, Teun Heyn, and grandchildren Julien Spruill, Jackson Spruill and Wesley Spruill, his sister Patti (Sammy) Montgomery, brother Jerry Spruill, sister-in-law Sharon Spruill and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Danny Spruill.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Mike's memory to Rice University.
