Michael Dewey Grizzle, 83 of Daniel Island, SC, passed away on July 16, 2026, surrounded by his family. A native of Plantation, FL, Michael was born in Rupert, WV, on March 17, 1943, to Dewey and June Grizzle.

Mike believed that a person's character was revealed not by what they achieved for themselves, but by how they treated others. Through his patience, kindness, humility, and unwavering sense of duty, he taught all of us how to be better people and better members of our society. He led not through words alone, but through a lifetime of example. He married Mary Lou Loftus on June 17, 1967, and became a proud father to his four children, Brian (Betsy Grizzle), Lori Ann, Kevin (Jennifer Grizzle), and Patrick (Jennifer Grizzle). An honorable patriot, Mike answered the call to serve his nation with honor and dedication. His service reflected his deep sense of duty, courage, and commitment to something greater than himself. He was an Air Force veteran serving in the Vietnam War, stationed in Kontum, Vietnam from 1968-1969. He carried those same values throughout his life, setting an example of integrity and selflessness for his family, friends, and community. Those fortunate enough to know him are better for having shared in his life. The lessons he taught, the values he instilled, and the love he gave will continue to guide us long after his passing. While we mourn the loss of a remarkable father, veteran, friend, and mentor, we are forever enriched by the gift of having known him. His life was our gain, and his legacy will live on in all who carry forward the example he set. He leaves behind his loving wife, Marylou, his four children and their spouses, and his 10 beautiful grandchildren (Ella, Nolan, Katie, Abigail, Julianne, Fletcher, Maggie, Alice, Henry, and Walter) who will forever cherish the memories they shared with their Papa. Though he is no longer with us, his values, love, and spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. Above all, Mike was a devoted family man. He loved them all wholeheartedly and took great pride in their lives and accomplishments. His wisdom, steady presence, and unconditional support provided a foundation of strength that will continue to guide his family for generations.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 22, at 11:00 AM at Saint Clare of Assisi Catholic Church on Daniel Island, SC. Mike will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
