Matilda "Tillie" Balliet Schlufter November 18, 1957 - May 2, 2024

Tillie, a cherished native of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on May 2, 2024, at 8:11 am with her loving children, Tatum and Jonathan, by her side. She was known for her kind heart, unwavering love for animals, and her dedication to helping others. Tillie served as a Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse, leaving a significant impact through her leadership in the gastroenterology departments at Roper and St. Francis hospitals. Her commitment to providing care and solace to those in need resonated through the many lives she touched. Tillie's most treasured role was that of a devoted mother. Her boundless love and devotion to her children and nephew knew no bounds, and her absence will be profoundly felt.

Tillie is survived by her husband, Louis Schlufter; her children, Tatum and Jonathan Balliet; her nephew, Michael O'Dell; her sister, Gracia Siegel (Barry); and niece, Allie Siegel.

Matilda found joy in traveling, nurturing her garden, and strolling with her beloved dogs along the beach. Her adventurous spirit and connection to nature brought happiness to all those fortunate enough to know her.
