Martha Reeves Kieffer of Mt Pleasant, SC passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022. She was born in Thomson, GA on January 12, 1929, to Roy Randall and Annie Whitaker Reeves. After Annie's death when Martha was very young, Roy married Ruth Burson Reeves.

Martha graduated from Thomson High School and attended GeorgiaCollege for Women (now Georgia College and State University) where she received a degree in Music Education. Following graduation, she taught music at McEachern High School and met her husband. They moved to St Simons Island, GA where he was a landscape architect for the Sea Island Company and she raised her three children. Martha returned to Thomson, GA, and taught at Thomson Elementary School for many years. She began to travel when she retired and loved visiting new places. She was an organist for her church for many years and was a long-time volunteer at East Cooper Medical Center in Mount Pleasant, SC after moving there to be closer to family. Martha was an avid reader all her life and even after her vision diminished, she continued to listen to stories with her talking books.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, her husband Mahlon J. Kieffer, Sr., sister Mary Reeves Sudlow, and granddaughter Lauren KiefferPobalis (Joe). She is survived by her children Mahlon J. Kieffer, Jr.(Sandy) of Brooksville KY, Jane KiefferWalker (Moye) of Forsyth, GA, and Melissa Kieffer Milligan (Freeman) of Mt Pleasant, SC; brother George Reeves (Helga) of Thomson, sister Gennie Reeves McGarvey of Brunswick, GA; grandchildren: KiefferMilligan of El Segundo, CA; Melanie Kieffer Lambert (Jacob) of NorthAugusta, SC, Jordan McNay of Highland Heights, KY; and greatgrandchildren: Riley Pobalis of Harlem GA and Charlie Lambert of NorthAugusta. She also leaves several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at Christ Church Frederica on St SimonsIsland, GA October 8 at 11 am.
