Marion Diane Musgrove, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 15, 2023.
Diane was born in San Diego, California on May 6, 1937, to Lieutenant Commander Howard
Foster Mears and his wife Norita Bowyer Mears. Her father died in June of 1945 while piloting
a reconnaissance mission near Singapore. Just a few months prior to his death, she and her
mother moved to Washington, DC where Diane attended Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart
in Bethesda, MD. Upon graduation from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service in
1958, she married her husband of 44 years, Richard M. D. "Dick" Musgrove.

Her husband's career with AT&T began in 1960 and took them from Buffalo, NY to Phoenix,
AZ to New Providence, NJ and finally to Greensboro, NC from 1976-1989. Diane worked as a
travel agent in the 80's and later in the Membership Department of The Greensboro Symphony
Orchestra after being an active volunteer for the organization for several years. Dick and Diane
enjoyed playing tennis and hosting dinner parties with their group of friends from Hamilton
Lakes Swim & Tennis Club.

In 1989, Dick was transferred to Hong Kong and Diane was able to travel extensively through
Asia with her husband, other expat wives as well as her 4 children. Upon Dick's retirement from
AT&T in 1992, they returned to Greensboro.

A few years after her husband's death, Diane moved to Mt. Pleasant, SC and lived in the Snee
Farm neighborhood. She quickly met her neighbors walking her silky terrier "Kashif" and at the
age of 69, she embarked on a new passion - oil painting. An active member of both the Mount
Pleasant and Charleston Artist Guilds, Diane sold her paintings in both of their galleries.

A voracious reader, she was in two book clubs and an expert solver of Wordle. Diane was
intellectually curious, loving, kind and quick to laugh. Her easy-going nature made her the ideal
travel companion. A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, we all have wonderful memories
of her wit and gorgeous smile. Diane's graceful manner always elevated the moment.

She is survived by daughter Michele Diane Kowalik and husband John of Chester, CT; son,
Richard Duvall Musgrove and wife Christine of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Catherine Bridget
Musgrove of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; daughter Maureen Elizabeth Musgrove of Atlanta, GA;
grandchildren Ross Kowalik of Natick, MA; Grant Kowalik of Washington, D.C.; Colleen
Musgrove of Templeton, CA: Charlotte Musgrove of San Francisco, CA and Laylah Giddens of
Mt. Pleasant, SC

A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Stephen's, 67 Anson Street, Charleston SC, on
Monday, June 19th at 10:00 AM. Diane requested that everyone feel free to wear colorful attire.
