Laura Spears Knobeloch, beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend, passed away on September 17 at the age of 57.



Raised in Florence, Laura attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington before earning her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She went on to build a distinguished career as a passionate and dedicated criminal defense attorney. Alongside her professional accomplishments, she found her greatest joy in raising her children and creating a loving home.



Laura enjoyed entertaining friends, engaging in spirited political discussions, and sharing her sharp wit—always tempered with warmth and humor. To those who knew her, she was a source of joy, love, and laughter.



In her youth, she attended Methodist and Presbyterian churches, and during her marriage she nurtured her faith through Lutheran and Episcopal services. "In my Father's house are many rooms... I am going to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also". John 14:1-3.



She is survived by her husband, John F. Knobeloch; her children, John A. and Julia Knobeloch; her mother, Nelda Fowler; her step-father Andy Fowler, her sister, Libby Spears, her father-in-law, John B. Knobeloch; and her sister-in-law, Kim Byrd (Troy). She was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Emily Knobeloch; and her father Lieutenant Colonel Vernon Alexander Spears, Jr.



She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.



A memorial service will be held Saturday October 4 at 1:00 pm at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church 302 Hibben Street, Mount Pleasant SC with visitation to follow at the church.
