Kenneth A
Kuller
Jan 28, 1945 — Aug 2, 2026
Somewhere there is a curvy mountain road. The air is crisp. The sun is shining. The sky is Carolina blue. Kenny K is there riding his Harley, leaning into each curve and having the time of his life. He is loving each moment and savoring it with all his being. He did love to ride. He never backed down. He rarely backed up. He never saw a body of water he didn't want to dive into or a mountain trail he didn't want to climb. He loved pushing his kayak into a creek in search of Blue Herons and Eagles. Every day was an adventure. He would roll out of bed, in the still dark early morning, to watch the sunrise.
Ken loved all God's creatures. He took delight in the birds that came to our feeders and the baby raccoons brought by their mother to take seeds from those same feeders. He rescued turtles crossing the road, depositing them safely on the other side. At the beach, he rescued birds caught in fishermen's nets, gently and patiently untangling them.
Ken's love for his family extended to a blended family and included children, stepchildren, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He presided over many Christmas and Thanksgiving celebrations as we gathered at the dining room table. He commanded the grill at our summer ribfests. A ride on the back of his Harley was a favorite with his children Jason and Sydney and his grandson Xavier. He loved listening to Kai's music and Xylia's laughter. Jaeden's sweetness always brought him joy. His final months were brightened by visits from his great grandchildren, Kimiko and Wren.
His final words to us would be, "Life is short. Grab a paddle. Climb a mountain. Jump in the water. Hold a baby. Make love."
Kenneth Alan Kuller was born November 28th 1945 to Sydney and Florence Kuller in the Bronx, New York. He was truly a city boy, sitting on the fire escape at night with other apartment dwellers to escape the summer heat. He rode his bike to Rockaway Beach. As a young man Ken moved to California and later to Colorado where he loved to ski and ride horses. It was the beginning of his love affair with nature. Moving back to the East Coast, he settled in Williamsburg, Virginia, where he raised his children and married Courtney, the love of his life. He finished his career in the grocery business as a Regional Director with Food Lion.
Ken is survived by his wife Courtney, his children Adam Kuller, Jason Kuller and Sydney Kuller, his stepchildren Matthew Yoshikawa, Daniel Yoshikawa, and David Yoshikawa; his grandchildren Jaeden Yoshikawa, Kai Yoshikawa, Xavier Yoshikawa, and Xylia McPherson; and his great grandchildren Kimiko Yoshikawa and Wren Pedersen.
