Joseph Anthony "Tony" Sforza passed away on July 19, 2022, in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Tony was born in Newark, OH on August 6, 1934, to Maria Ferriozzi and Enrico Sforza, both from the Abruzzi region of Italy.

Tony served in the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. After honorable discharge he began a career as a letter carrier with the U.S Postal Service in Newark, OH retiring after 30 years of service. He was a Gold Card Member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and active with The Sons of Italy. After retirement from the Post Office, he worked for Vince Ghiloni Builders as a painter until he and his wife, Suzi, moved to Mt. Pleasant, SC., where he volunteered his time as a tour guide on the U.S.S. Yorktown.

He is survived by his wife Suzanne "Suzi" Weltzheimer Sforza, his children Robin S. Gilligan (and her husband Doug Gilligan), Toni Ann Smith (and her husband Richard Smith), Cynthia L. Koontz (and her husband Warren Koontz), Joan C. Richards (and her husband Shad Richards), Mary Beth "Betsy" Guttridge (and her husband Rodney Guttridge), Monica S. Sforza McMahon and Matthew E. Sforza (and his wife Laura Sforza), his sister Grace Sforza DiGiandomenico, sixteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Maria Ferriozzi Sforza and Enrico Sforza, his sister Josephine Sforza Martino and his son Mark Anthony Sforza.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday July 28, 2022, at 10:30am. at Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1183 Russell Dr., Mt. Pleasant, S.C. 29464. All are welcome to attend a luncheon immediately following the Funeral Mass where family will receive guests.
