John Ganter, 67, of Hollywood, South Carolina, passed away on September 27, 2026. He was born on August 16, 1959, in Watertown, New York, to Earl Ganter and Helen Jackimzuck. John attended Watertown High School. 

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He shared 37 years of marriage with the love of his life, Mary (Gilchrist) Ganter. His love for Mary was at the heart of his life, and the two shared countless memories and adventures together. 

John was a hardworking man who took great pride in his work. He spent many years working as an automotive mechanic at several automotive businesses, including Northrop’s Ford and Cole Muffler. For the last eight years of his career, he worked for a government contractor ManTech in Charleston, South Carolina. 

Outside of work, John loved being outdoors and making memories with the people he loved. He enjoyed traveling, camping, boating, and fishing. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed attending dirt races. Whether he was on the road, on the water, at a campsite, or watching a race, John enjoyed life and the simple moments that brought people together. 

John will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Mary; his children, Terry Gould (Charleen) of DeBary, Florida, and Justin Curtis (Courtney) of Charleston, South Carolina; and his grandchildren, Erika, Jenna, Jaxson, Caleb, Charlotte, and Cassidy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Ganter and Helen Jackimzuck. 

John leaves behind a lifetime of memories and the love of his family, who will carry him in their hearts always. His greatest joy was his family, and above all, the love he shared with Mary. 

There will be no services at this time and arrangements are being handled by Charleston Cremation Center and Funeral Home, Charleston, SC.
