Jimmy Dean Hahs, "Jellybean", "George", a cherished individual known for his kindness and dedication to his wife, family, students, and friends left us on September 26, 2024. Jimmy lived a beautiful full life spending his final years in Charleston, South Carolina.

Born March 13th, 1940 in Sedgewickville, Missouri. Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Tillere Hahs. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ruth Hahs; his 3 children, Daniel, Janet, and Dennis; as well as 5 thriving grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.

After completing a BS & MS in Civil Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology, he went on to earn a Doctor of Engineering (D.Engr.) in Civil Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. In the early 70's he moved to Florida to begin a fulfilling career spanning over 38 years as a business owner, professor, and senior engineer in several states and universities.

Jimmy leaves a legacy to his family and friends about how important it is to pursue your dreams, support your family, and always treat others the way you'd like to be treated. He enjoyed life to the fullest whether it was fishing on Whitewater Creek, playing cards, visiting with family and friends, building concrete canoes with his students, or tinkering on a project. He was always quick to smile and lend a hand to those in need. He was creative in the kitchen, around the house, and in the lab at school, often finding pragmatic elegant solutions to whatever he was working on. He was truly a gentleman and scholar. He raised his children to seek truth, show kindness, and know that they are loved by their creator God almighty.

If you knew Jimmy, you knew you had a friend you could trust and you had someone who would be there in good times and bad.

A private cremation service will be held in accordance with Jimmy and Ruth's wishes. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation in Jimmy's memory.
