Colonel Herbert Lee (Bert) Patrick. Ill, USAF (RET) passed peacefully away with this family at his side August 5, 2023. Bert was born June 15, 1945, in Anderson, South Carolina to Miriam Francis McGregor Patrick of Anderson and Herbert Lee Patrick, Jr., of Chester.

Bert graduated from Saluda High School in 1963, and The Citadel in 1967, after which he entered the Unites States Air Force and Reserves, and served honorably until his retirement in 1995.

During his service, Bert attended the National War College and earned several awards, to include: the Legion of Merit (oak leaf cluster); Defense Meritorious Service Medal; and Air Force Commendation (two oak leaf cluster).

Bert also served as city administrator for Marion, SC, and Lancaster, SC. In addition to his military and municipal service, he also served as an educator in public administration, business, and business management at local colleges and state universities.

During his retirement, he enjoyed reading, boating, fishing, and traveling the world with his lovely wife, Katheryn Ann Wilson, and who he is survived by with their three children: Alexandra, Allen, Chamblee, and three grandchildren.
