Ford Justice Grigg, 87, died Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Medical University of South Carolina.

A native of Cleveland County, North Carolina, Ford was the son of the late Nollie Justice Grigg and Irene Ford Grigg.

Ford retired from the U.S. Army Signal Corp after twelve years of service. Following his military career he worked for the Federal Government and moved overseas to work and live in England, where he met his wife, Violet. There, he built a life full of family and friends that were family.

He found great happiness traveling and camping throughout the United Kingdom and Scotland with family and friends. These trips were more than holidays. They were shared adventures filled with conversation, laughter, and a strong sense of togetherness. He also enjoyed car racing from racing his own Porsche 911 in his younger years to annually volunteering at the British Grand Prix.

Ford was an avid photographer and photography was more than a hobby for him. It was a way to remember places, preserve moments, and tell stories without words. He left behind thousands of photos that tell the story of a life well-lived and a man well-loved.

Above all, Ford valued time spent with the people he loved. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his kindness, and his ability to make others feel welcome on every journey, near or far.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Harriette Grigg and Joyce Whisnant, and his brother-in-law, Charles Whisnant.

He is survived by his wife, Vi; his sons, James Grigg and wife Keenan, and Jody Grigg and wife Anita; his granddaughter, Maddie; his niece, Elizabeth Whisnant; his nephews, Scott Whisnant, John Whisnant and wife Susan; his grandniece, Amanda Jernigan; his grandnephews, Andrew Rogers, Adam Whisnant, Will Whisnant, and Noah Whisnant; and his beloved canine companions, Henry and Fred.
