Everett Mansfield Hoffman, Jr. died at the age of 87 on December 2, 2024 in Charleston South Carolina. He  leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Catherine McCarthy Hoffman, and three of their four children: Michael E. Hoffman (L. Janell Hoffman), Hayley Frances Hoffman (David Dworkin), and Andrea Gwen Hoffman. He is also survived by his son-in-law Joseph Thomas, widower of his late daughter Tracey Hoffman Thomas.

Everett's legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Ian Whalen Lindeman, Gavin Douglas Lindeman (Anastasia Kondakova), Cai Everett Lindeman (Audrey Seiz), Rachel Lynn Pustejovsky, and Hannah Clare LaTour (Riley LaTour), Maggie Thomas (Mel Thomas), Abe Thomas, Elinor Thomas (Utsav Dixit), Julia Thomas, and a great-granddaughter, Sylvie Thomas.

He is predeceased by his parents Helen Lister Hansen and Everett Mansfield Hoffman, Sr. There will be a celebration of life planned on Swans Island, Maine in the summer of 2025.
