Obituary

Diane Rose Diamond, 75 years young, of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded with her beloved family on July 9, 2026 in Charleston, South Carolina.

Diane Rose Diamond was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 11, 1950 to Max Meyer Diamond of New York and Marjorie Genevieve Wright Diamond of Virginia.

Diane began her life's work as a fulltime stay at home mom and caretaker of her family. She then worked in 1992 as a Fire Dispatcher and a volunteer firefighter for Midway Fire Department in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Diane decided that this career, saving lives, was her calling in life. In 1993 Diane Diamond transferred to Georgetown County Fire, EMS, and Rescue 911 as a 911 dispatcher for the next 17 years until she had to retire because of a disability. Diane also worked at Georgetown Memorial Hospital as a desk clerk.

"Mama" "Grandma" Diane Diamond enjoyed fishing in North Inlet with her best friend Randy, and watching her favorite football team, USC Gamecocks, because she was a dedicated Gamecock! Diane was an avid reader, she read hundreds of 1000's of books, therefore, she spent years in the downtown Georgetown library, teaching her children the importance of literacy. She was a phenomenal chef, she loved watching her cooking shows, and was known for her love of Rodney Scott's BBQ. "Mama" spent years cooking for her family, making her own BBQ sauce, deviled crab and many other delicious southern specialties.

Diane was also actively involved in spending time with her family, specifically doting on her grandchildren, Connelly, Violet, and Fischer, who she loved dearly, especially on special holidays which were always very important to her. Diane absolutely loved her dog Max, he was her devoted companion, and never left her side. Diane was a dedicated mother and grandmother, she taught us resilience and strength in the face of life's many challenges.

Diane was preceded in death by her father Max Meyer Diamond, her mother Marjorie Genevieve Wright Diamond, Grandma Rose, and her sister Debbie Jenny Diamond.

Diane is survived by her life partner James Randell Jackson Sr., Her children, Jennifer Driggers Roy, Constance Lynn Driggers, Dr. Kelly "Kellbell" Shelton and Donald Wayne Shelton Jr. Along with Diane's grandchildren, William Fischer Roy, Connelly D'Archangeles Roy, and Violet Yves Diamond Duffield. Max, her beloved dog.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for September at the Pawleys Island Chapel, Pawleys Island, South Carolina. We will miss our beloved "Mama" She will live on in our hearts forever.
