Mr. Dana English Dovell, 53, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on May 20, 2026, in his hometown. Born on June 25, 1972, in Charleston, Dana grew up in Riverland Terrace on James Island.

He found joy in going out on the river and spending time on his boat, embracing the natural beauty of the Lowcountry. A passionate music enthusiast, he especially enjoyed attending concerts and was an avid fan of "Alice Donut," a band that brought him much happiness over the years. Dana enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and traveling as much as he could.

Dana's heart was as expansive as the river he loved so dearly. He cherished his family and friends and protected those he cared for with fierce loyalty. He left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Dana is survived by his beloved daughter, Cleo Dovell; his mother, Patricia Derington, and her husband, Robert Derington; his father, Edward Dovell, and his fiancée, Suzanne Houser; two sisters, Tara Dovell and English Dovell; and one brother, Teddy Dovell. He also leaves behind many others who will remember him fondly.

He was predeceased by his former wife, Lisa A. Baldwin Dovell; his granddaughter, Lisa Caprioli; and his son-in-law, Cecil Caprioli.

Dana's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May they find comfort in remembering the joy he brought into their lives and the legacy of love he leaves behind.
