Charles Ernest Brunson Jr (Charlie), 75, of Charleston, SC passed away peacefully on May 27, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Charles will always be remembered for his generosity, kindness and playful sense of humor.
Charles was born in Charleston, SC on March 1, 1948 son of Charles Brunson Sr and Betty Jo Tilton Brunson.
Charles graduated from Moultrie High School where he met his bride, Kathy. He also attended the University of South Carolina with a degree in business. Charles was a Mechanical and Plumbing business owner for most of his life. He was a member of Mt Pleasant Town Council for 12 years as well as Mt Pleasant Fire Commissioner for 12 years. Charles served his country in the National Guard for 14 years. He was also president of the Mechanical Contractors Association for many years. Charles enjoyed his music and loved playing his guitar. His favorite things in life were spending time with his wife, Kathy traveling and spending time with his beloved kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He also was the biggest South Carolina Gamecocks fan and made sure everyone knew it. His love of Ireland and Irish music was very well known to all that knew him.
Charles is survived by his high school sweetheart of 53 years, Kathy along with his children, Renee, Bridget (Jason) and Charles III. Grandchildren Dillan (Hank), Elizabeth (John), Julia (Kayla), Gracie (Anna) and Avery. And great grandchildren Riley, Henry and Charlotte. There are also 2 great grandchildren in the works due later this year to continue his legacy. Also his 3 sisters, cousins, in laws and many friends that were most important in his life.
Charles is preceded in death by his beloved first born daughter, Jaime Jo Brunson Millard.
The family wishes to thank Roper Hospice Cottage staff for their loving care of Charlie this past week. Also would like to thank Charleston Cremation Center for an easy transition.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life for Charlie in July. They will keep family and friends updated on this date to join his family in honoring his life.
