Bruce
Oetzel
Jul 1, 1950 — Sep 22, 2026
Goose Creek
Bruce Oetzel, 76, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away on September 22, 2026, in Charleston.
Born on July 1, 1950, in Philadelphia, PA, Bruce was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and an easy-going and loyal man. For 57 years, he was married to the love of his life, Linda, and built a life together based on love, commitment, and service to Jehovah. His faith was at the heart of who he was, and he treasured the privilege of serving as an elder in the congregations he attended.
Before moving to South Carolina, Bruce and Linda made their home in Bucks County, PA, where they raised their two sons. In retirement, they embraced a slower pace of life near Charleston and especially cherished quiet moments together on the back porch.
Bruce spent his later days as a rideshare driver, delighting in educating tourists about the city’s rich history while pursuing another favorite past time - discovering the area’s best restaurants. He was always happy to share a little local knowledge – and perhaps a recommendation or two – with his passengers.
Bruce loved being on the water and made years of unforgettable memories on Long Beach Island, NJ. He also held a long time dream of owning a “real boat”. He eventually became the proud owner of one, which kept him busy with endless tinkering and a steady Investment of time and money. He proved the old saying true: a boat is simply a hole in the water into which you throw money!
Bruce is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda; his sons, David (Jennifer) and Thomas (Stacey); and his nine grandchildren, who knew him as Pop-Pop; Madison, Gabe, Jordan, Devon, Dakota, Reilly, Sophia, Isabella, and Colton. He is also survived by his two great grandchildren, Harper and Samuel, and his brother Mark (Nancy) as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Elizabeth Oetzel.
Bruce will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and congregation. His faith, unwavering devotion to and care for his wife, as well as his positive, good natured spirit will be long remembered.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Goose Creek, SC on Saturday October 17, 2026 at 2:00 pm.
