Bradley (Brad) Allan Schulte, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend departed this life on December 12, 2024 in Charleston, SC. He was born on August 30, 1951, to the late John and Dorothy Schulte in Manly, Iowa. He is predeceased by his sister, Jillanne Leigh Hall.

Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the Army deploying to Vietnam in 1970. After leaving the service, he started college at Winona State University, graduating in 1976, and then went on to get his Ph.D. in Anatomy from the University of Minnesota in 1980. After graduation, he became a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), where his career spanned the next 44 years, most of those years focused on scientific research around age-related hearing loss. He became a full professor in 1987 and later served as the Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. MUSC recently appointed him Distinguished University Professor.

As much as he enjoyed his work, Brad's greatest love was his family. A true renaissance man, he was a voracious reader, a skilled outdoorsman, and a handy man par excellence. He would fish anywhere, but especially looked forward to trips to the lake with his brother, Fred. He loved hunting trips with his sons, nephews, and brother, John. Brad golfed every chance he got, regularly taking mulligans with his sons and his close friend, Jack. He liked to talk books with his daughter, but also made sure she could handle a multitude of power tools. Brad was an adventurer – scouting out new places across the world with his favorite traveling companion, his beloved wife. Young at heart, he was a devoted "Baba" to his five grandchildren, never missing an opportunity for a squirt gun fight in the pool to join them on teeter-totters and other slightly hazardous playground equipment.

Brad is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jennifer Lenz Schulte; his children, Jillanne (Brian), Jason (Charlotte), and Jared (Ali); and five grandchildren, Whittaker Charles Wall, Wells Allan Wall, Sullivan Margaret Schulte, Henry Tillman Schulte, and Olivia Claire Schulte. He is also survived by his siblings, John Henry Schulte IV, Frederick Kevin Schulte, and Cinderella Sue Olson.

A memorial service to honor Brad's life will be held at St. Luke's Chapel located on the MUSC campus at 181 Ashley Ave., Charleston, SC at 11:00am on Friday, January 17, 2025.
