Boyd Rymer Dethero, 73,  passed away peacefully February 21st in Charleston, South Carolina, with his daughter by his side.

Born and raised in Cleveland, Tennessee, Boyd was a graduate of Mccallie High School. He went on to earn his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and later completed his graduate studies in city planning at the University of Tennessee.

Boyd was an accomplished amateur golfer.  His love for the game started at a young age  and was a central part of his life.   He traveled extensively with his wife Jaime and dear friends playing golf, both competitively and for enjoyment.

He is preceded in death by parents, Ruth Rymer and Harry Lawrence Dethero; his wife, Jaime Mary Dethero; his son, James Carter Dethero; and by his brother, John Bradford Dethero. Boyd is survived by his daughter, Dorris Dethero James; son-in-law, Benjamin Burl James; grandchildren, Mary Margaret James, Henry Burl James, and Alison Chapin James; as well as his brothers, David Lawrence Dethero and Harry Ramsey Dethero; and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.

For many years, Boyd resided in Ooltewah Tennessee, before spending his final days in Charleston, South Carolina.

Boyd will be missed by all who knew him.

The visitation will be Friday, March 7th,  at 1:00 PM in the Parish Hall of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in downtown Cleveland.  The memorial service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM in the church sanctuary.
