Arlene Drake Absher, 86, of Summerville, SC, peacefully entered into eternal rest at her home on April 4, 2025.

Arlene was born in Ithaca, NY, on April 14,1938 to the late John Drake and the late Elmina Allen Drake.

Arlene worked at Sears Home Improvement in Long Ridge Mall in Greece, NY for a number of years. She volunteered for People Against Rape in Charleston, SC, mentored industrial workers in Walterboro, SC, and volunteered with hospice patients in Palatka, FL. Arlene enjoyed quilting and gardening and had a special love for animals. She was a member of Knightsville Methodist Church.

Arlene is survived by her husband, Jesse Absher; children, Tab Heath, Mark Heath, and Laura Heath; grandchildren, Bridget Kunego (John), Brandon Burris (Crystal), Sela Maddalena, Nick Chennell (Christine), Dustin Heath, and Danielle Teetsel; and six great-grandchildren with another expected soon. Also her step-children, John Absher (Crystal) and Nora Absher; step-grandsons, Ryan Absher, Kyle Absher, Nathan Absher, and Evan Absher.

Arlene was preceded in death by her mother and father; daughter, Cynthia Heath Chennell; and brother, Jim Drake.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 pm, April 19, 2025 at Knightsville Methodist Church, 1505 Central Ave. Summerville. Burial will take place at Scottville Baptist Church at a later time.
