Nordy Davis of Moncks Corner, SC aged 58 passed away at home on Saturday December 18, 2021. He is survived by his parents, Jan and Nat Benson, of Charleston SC, Norden Wayne Davis, Sr. and Nancy W. Davis, of Gaffney SC and his sister Amy D. Jenkins and brother-in-law Scott Jenkins of Dawtaw Island SC. He is also survived by his wife Anne R. Davis, of 33 years, son Harrison and daughter Mary-Grace as well as her longtime boyfriend Philip Fyock, brother-in-law Parrish Smith and sister-in-law Beth R. Smith of Tennessee, as well as two step-brothers, a niece and 2 nephews. He attended Winthrop University. He served in the US Navy as a nuclear components welder and second class Petty Officer on the USS Frank Cable. After his discharge, he became a master craftsman and woodworker specializing in antique reproduction and restoration of famous Charleston residences including the Calhoun Mansion, the Nathaniel Russell House and the Heyward Washington House. He returned to the College of Charleston where he graduated with a BS in biology and chemistry and obtained a MS degree in Project Management from the Citadel and certified by MIT as a Process Engineer. He contributed to the family business as an assistant administrator at Sandpiper Convalescent Ctr. He built his family’s home in St. Thomas Point, Mt. Pleasant. He was the owner/operator of his own business, Charlestone Design Architectural Precast company, manufacturing custom architectural masonry including: the cathedral of St. John the Baptist, the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge in Charleston, SC., and the Mt. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. Because of his extraordinary artisanry, he was featured on the cover of Architectural Digest Magazine. Most recently he was employed as a Process Manager at Palmetto Surfacing Inc. Besides his family, these were Nordy’s greatest loves; he was an avid outdoorsman, naturalist, and animal lover who enjoyed all forms of hunting, fishing, boating, skiing, kayaking, bird watching, and of course golfing. But his greatest love was the amazing comradery which these hobbies fostered among those he cherished. Most recently, his happiest times were spent golfing at the Berkeley Country Club where he had a special bond with all of its members. “Blow up your TV, throw away the paper, move to the country, build you a home. Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches, try to find Jesus on your own.” - John Prine Memorial service will be held at the French Huguenot Church on the 7th of January at 2:00pm in downtown Charleston (136 Church Street Charleston, SC 29401). In lieu of flowers, please make your donations to the Berkeley Animal Center.
